Richard Figueroa - How to destroy your online reputation
Richard Figueroa clearly does not understand how the Internet works. First he tries to sue Techcrunch for some sort of misuse of a picture, which was THE most ridiculous case I’ve ever seen, but after Michael posted all emails online, he also went on to comment on Techcrunch.
I’m not going to discuss the case itself, as you can read for yourself here: Being stupid and litigious is no way to go through life.
What it has done for his reputation online? Not very much goods. If you now search for “Richard Figueroa photography“, the results are full of blog posts just screaming how stupid he is. The Techcrunch post is number 2 &3.
If you search for “Richard Figueroa Beth Boldt“; Techcrunch is even number 1.
What you can learn from Richard Figueroa?
- Don’t sue Michael Arrington, or Techcrunch
- Don’t engage in an endless discussion on a platform you don’t control
- Understand that everything you say on the Internet, will end up and rank in Google and other search engines.
- Learn the dynamics first, before you engage in a discussion or sue an Internet expert
- Don’t do stupid!
Somebody even registered the domain name: Richard Figueroa. You almost start to feel sorry for the guy…
